Having The 1st Conversation

The point of these conversations is not only to receive wisdom from another person, but to learn together to discern God’s voice.

As you begin the conversation, here are some suggestions

Spend time in prayer together, focusing on inviting the Holy Spirit to lead your conversation with each other.

Read Psalm 139 out loud in the 1st person. Psalm 139 reminds us that God knows everything about us and that He desires to lead us. Praying this Psalm sets up your conversation with the proper perspective.

Set a time limit for this first conversation that is acceptable to both you and your friend/mentor, and then begin to share what you are wondering about. Today’s goal should not be to receive an answer, but to understand the scope of what God might be trying to say to you.

End with a time of prayer and a commitment to seek God’s voice on this journey of 21 days.

Set a time for your next connections.

An ideal rhythm might be to “check in” via text message, before meeting in person each week.
