On a cold night, how close can you get to the fire without getting burned?

When it's winter and the fire is going, it’s tempting to get up close to the fire, but if you’re not properly prepared, you can get burned.

This week we'll be reading the first eight chapters of 1 Samuel, and we're going to read about how Eli and Samuel, the nation of Israel and the Philistines got close to God's presence, and for some of them it was a great thing, but others got burned!

God is holy and He invites us into close proximity, as long as we make the right preparations of holiness. Getting close to God is an amazing thing, but it also needs proper attention and we need to prepare ourselves, our hearts, and our minds to encounter His holy presence.

As you read these chapters this week, write down your own reflections about how you can make yourself ready for getting close to God.
