Living With Purpose

Paul’s closing chapters in 1 Corinthians (15-16) are a rollercoaster ride of faith, hope, and practical advice that challenge us to live with purpose and passion. He shifts from the awe-inspiring promise of resurrection to the nitty-gritty details of generosity and everyday faithfulness. It’s like he’s saying, “Yes, we have an amazing future, but let’s not forget to live out that hope in the present!”

The Ultimate Plot Twist: The Resurrection

Chapter 15 is where Paul drops the mic on what makes Christianity unique: the resurrection. He passionately explains why this event is the cornerstone of our faith.

“If Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless, and you are still guilty of your sins.” 1 Corinthians 15:17 (NLT)

Imagine putting all your hopes on a hero who never showed up. But Jesus did show up—He defeated death and changed the game forever.

Paul’s message isn’t just about theology; it’s about perspective. Knowing that death isn’t the end reshapes everything. It gives us courage to face hardships and uncertainty because we know there’s something greater beyond.

“Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 1 Corinthians 15:54-55 (NLT)

It’s a defiant anthem for anyone struggling through life’s darkest moments—victory is already ours.

Faith in Action: Generosity and Grace

Chapter 16 may seem like a mundane shift from the grandeur of resurrection to financial planning, but it’s actually Paul’s way of saying that faith isn’t just a Sunday thing. He encourages the Corinthians to set aside money each week to support those in need,

“On the first day of each week, you should each put aside a portion of the money you have earned.” 1 Corinthians 16:2 (NLT)

It’s about intentionality. Whether it’s money, time, or kindness, giving consistently transforms generosity from a random act into a lifestyle.

Paul’s final words are like a coach’s pep talk before the big game:

“Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love.” 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 (NLT)

He’s calling us to be warriors of love and truth, living out our hope in Christ with boldness and compassion.

So, what does all this mean for us today?

It’s simple: live with the end in mind, but be all in for the present.

Embrace the hope of the resurrection to inspire fearless living, and let that fearless living be marked by radical generosity and love.

Because when we know the end of the story, it frees us to live fully in every chapter along the way.
