Party on Blue Monday
By Rick Carrol
This Monday is blue Monday. It’s supposed to be the most depressing day of the year.
It’s the coldest, darkest Monday far from holidays and long weekends.
Life just feels harder.
But what if life was not responsible for making you happy?
What if we didn’t have to have our moods ebb and flow with seasons, weather, holidays or days of the week.
True joy is available to each of us, even on Blue Monday
Galatians 1:6-7 was written to a group of Christians struggling just like this. Paul said, “You are following a different way that pretends to be Good News, but it’s not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ
The Good News is not about a perfect life or even making it to heaven. It’s that you and I, as much as we struggle or mess up at times, are loved and welcomed into relationship with God, creator and Saviour of the world.
If we can focus on that, even blue Monday can be a party day.
