 FAQs for Care Providers

  • We want to serve our community holistically. We offer free care in areas of spiritual health, physical health and emotional health. When a client requests care, he/she meets with our trained Client intake team to discuss his/her care needs. Our Client Intake team will use the information from the intake process to refer the client to the care provider who can best meet the needs presented. From there, the care provider and client will communicate with each other to set up an appointment(s) as mutually agreed upon.

Please Note: Client referrals are not guaranteed and will fluctuate based on client intake needs.

  • We are looking for regulated and non-regulated care providers in various fields/disciplines who can provide free, compassionate care for people in need in our community. Some examples could include psychotherapists, counsellors, financial advisors, doctors, naturopaths, massage therapists, spiritual directors, etc. If you have a skill set or qualification that could fit at our Care Centre, we would love to hear from you through our application process.

  • A regulated care provider is someone who is licenced or holds credentials and insurance with their respective governing body. Proof of these documents will be required to serve as a regulated care provider.

A non-regulated care provider is someone who does not hold credentials/licensing/insurance in their field but has other experience that could be helpful. This could include people who can serve in our English conversation circles, admin support, etc.

If you're still unsure about how best your skill sets and experience can fit, please email carecentre@porticocanada.ca, and our Care Centre team will connect with you.

  • This depends on you! Our care providers can serve for a period of time (ie. a few months) or for a while. During the application process, our Care Centre team will discuss your availability and how you can best fit into caring for our community.

  • Yes! We will walk you through the process and answer any questions you may have. If you are serving as a regulated care provider, then you are the expert in your field! If you are serving as a non-regulated care provider, we will give you the necessary training to serve in that capacity.

  • That is up to you! PORTICO Church has private rooms available for care provider appointment booking (we would just need to know dates/times in advance) or you can meet with your client virtually (if applicable) or at your own place of practice (if applicable).

  • We believe that God has gifted each of us to be His hands and feet to those in need. If you are serving as a care provider, you will not be compensated for your services. This volunteer opportunity allows us to serve those in need in our community.

  • We believe that God has uniquely gifted each individual and calls them into loving faithfulness and service to Christ, in and through the local church. We ask that all of our Care Providers sign our PORTICO's Community Values and Standards Agreement (CVA) which seeks to establish the values and practices that our employees and volunteers willingly commit themselves to, as together we seek to glorify God in all our endeavours.

If you don't attend PORTICO but want to learn more, we'd love to have you visit us for a Sunday service at one of our two campuses!

If you would like to help fund the Care Centre, please visit portico.cc/donate, and select "Care Center" as the giving type.

All funds received will go to our general Care Centre fund to be used for both operational and capital costs.
