The Significance of Easter

The story of Easter is the most profound event in human history, as it represents the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ for the redemption of humanity. While the story of Easter may be seen as just a story to some, it holds much deeper meaning and significance for those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

When Jesus submitted to the will of His Father by dying on the cross for our sins, it was not a sign of abandonment or betrayal by God, but rather a demonstration of His infinite love and grace for us. In Matthew 27:46, Jesus cries out on the cross, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” This cry is not a sign of God’s abandonment, but rather a fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy (Psalm 22:1) and a powerful expression of Jesus’ human experience of pain and suffering.

Moreover, the story of Easter is not just about Jesus’ death on the cross, but also His resurrection and ascension into heaven. Jesus’ resurrection is the ultimate sign of victory over death, as He conquered sin and death once and for all. As stated in Romans 6:4, “Just as Christ was raised from the dead by the power of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

The Holy Spirit, given to us by Jesus after His resurrection and ascension, is the source of our new life and peace. As stated in John 14:27, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” Through the Holy Spirit, we are given the power to overcome sin and temptation and to live a life of righteousness and love.

In conclusion, the story of Easter is not just a story, but a powerful expression of God’s love and grace for humanity. Through the Holy Spirit, we are given the power to live a new life of peace and love. May we all take the time to reflect on the significance of Easter and the gift of salvation that Jesus has given us through His sacrifice on the cross.
