How often do we scroll through our phones, feeling connected to the world but still kind of lonely? It’s easy to stick to shallow interactions or isolate ourselves, but God made us for more.

In 1 Samuel 25-31, we see epic examples of deep friendships, like David and Jonathan. Even though Jonathan’s dad was trying to kill David, Jonathan stayed loyal to his friend.

He didn’t just say, “Good luck with that, bro!”—he showed up, encouraged David, and even risked his own safety to protect him. That’s the kind of deep connection God designed us for—relationships that impact how we live and reflect His love.

We’re designed for relationships where we walk through the highs and lows, laugh, cry, and grow together. True friendships—like David and Jonathan—challenge us, support us, and remind us that we’re not meant to do life alone.

As you read this week, think about this question.

How can you disconnect from your phone, and invest in real, deep connections with the people around you?
