Pastor Hana’s Reflection on 2 Corinthians 5-8
Imagine if God kept track of every wrong thing we’ve ever done—pretty overwhelming, right?
In 2 Corinthians 5:19, Paul tells us something amazing: “For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them.” Through Jesus, God chooses not to hold our mistakes against us. The weight of our sin is no longer our burden to bear.
Now, Paul goes a step further and says that we’re also called to spread that message of forgiveness to others. When we forgive, we’re not just letting go of grudges; we’re showing people what God’s love really looks like.
Think about it this way: Let’s say your best friend accidentally says something hurtful. You could hold onto that and be upset for a long time, or you could choose to forgive and move forward. By forgiving, you’re helping heal the relationship and you’re showing grace—just like God does with us!
Forgiving isn’t easy, but it’s powerful. It lifts the weight off our shoulders and allows us to move forward in love and peace, reflecting God’s heart for reconciliation. Forgiveness shows the world that love is stronger than hurt and that through Christ, we’re all given a chance to start fresh.
Reflection:
As you go through this week’s reading in 2 Corinthians, challenge yourself to let go of the rocks that you are carrying.
Think about that person in your life that you need to forgive.
Pray for guidance for how to let go of the grudges you're holding.
