Pastor Laura’s Reflection on 1 Corinthians 15-16

Who are you becoming?

Before he met Christ, Paul had hunted down and persecuted Christians for their faith. And yet – despite who he’d been, Christ had met him, transformed him, set him on a new path and given him a mandate.

He’d been a persecutor, but now he was an apostle.

As he writes to the Corinthians in chapter 15, Paul is in the middle of his own story, and is doing what God has asked him to do – and I love how he phrases this in verse 10:

“whatever I am now, it is all because God has poured out his special favor on me…”

Paul knows he’s not worthy of his calling, but Jesus gave it to him anyway.

It’s not about titles, or positions, or responsibilities… it’s about allowing Christ to transform us, and submitting to that journey.

Even if you’ve disqualified yourself, Jesus hasn’t disqualified you.

When you’re in Christ, the old ‘you’ is gone. “Whatever you are now,” and whatever you’re becoming, is all because Jesus has SEEN you, SAVED you, and made you new.

Now it’s time to look forward, and ask Jesus to form you into who he’s calling you to be.

Reflection Question:

  • Have I really let go of who I WAS, and embraced who Christ is forming me INTO?
