Pastor Jesse’s Reflection on 1 Corinthians 5-7

Do you think you are better than others? You live better, you are a bit more holy? You don’t sin as big?

News flash, we all fall short.. Have you ever watched a movie you knew contained inappropriate content, and were ok with it?

Maybe you told a little white lie, that wasn’t a big deal?

Paul is confronting the church in Corinth for ignoring the ongoing sin, specifically sexual immorality among their people… Instead of feeling sad and apologetic about what is happening the people are proud of themselves and judgemental towards others…

It is so much easier to judge what other people are doing and not worry about addressing your own stuff.

Paul is urging us to take a look at how we are living our lives.

Reflection Question:

  • Is there something in your life right now that you need to ask Jesus to forgive?

  • Is there someone who you have looked down on that you need to apologize to?

  • How can we cultivate an environment of accountability, correction, and restoration within our church community?
