Reflection on the Persecuted Church
It's heartbreaking to know that over 200 million Christians face persecution regularly.
Every month…
322 Christians are killed for their faith.
214 churches are destroyed.
722 acts of violence are committed against Christians.
We've gone through challenging periods in the past, no doubt, but globally it has never been more intense than it is in this very moment of history.
In Acts 7, we read how Stephen, full of the Spirit, was dragged out of the city and stoned to death.
Knowing what's happening to the Christians in other parts of the world should be our business. When one of us suffers, we all suffer. When one of us rejoices, we all rejoice. Prayer binds us together in both our joys and our sorrows.
Would you consider adding to your prayer list the nations and individuals who are currently experiencing persecution?
Reflection Questions:
What do we do in a world where some Christians prosper while others suffer persecution?
How should the church think about global issues affecting the persecuted church?
