Blind Faith

Blind Faith

By Rick Carrol

How confident are you in making a decision when you don’t have all the facts in front of you? Some people even struggle to decide what to order at a restaurant without seeing the dish served to someone else, let alone make a major choice like taking a new job or moving to a new city without having all the details. And yet, following God actually requires that we regularly take steps of faith into places that are sometimes complete unknowns.

Abraham was told to “go to a land that I will show you” (Gen 12:1). How do you even start out going to a place that has yet to be identified!?! And yet, that was his reality. And so it should be for us at times as well. God may ask us to make a big move without even laying out for us what the big move is. That’s the kind of faith it takes to follow God—and it is impossible to please God without faith (Heb 11:6).
