Peace of Mind

By Rick Carrol

One of the emotions that grabs hold of my attention, interestingly enough, is peace. The world is fast moving, confrontational, full of pressure and decisions. But when I encounter peace, it causes me to stop and take notice. Participate in it.

1 Peter 3:11 says that we should search for peace, and work to maintain it.

Searching for peace is easy out here by a river, but we live our lives surrounded by others. We can’t always escape to nature to find peace. In the surrounding verses, Peter encourages us to create peace in the world by being of one mind, and sympathizing with others. It would be great if everyone agreed with me, but that’s not always the case. The call to be of one mind, means I will regularly have to default to someone else point of view. You’d be surprised how often you would achieve the goal of bringing peace if you were of one mind with others, even when it’s not your mind.
