Sometimes it’s Hard to Show Love

By Rick Carrol

Is there a person you find really hard to love? Jesus said that Christians are supposed to be identified simply by the way we love each other. Obviously we haven’t figured that out perfectly yet. In 2 Peter 1:5-7, Peter walks us through the way to get to there. He says that our process should be to regularly add to faith, in a systematic way. Just because we have faith in Christ, doesn’t mean we have love. He says “supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.

There will be times that each of us will struggle to demonstrate love for everyone, but if we go through this process of consistent growth and development, Peter says we have all we need to be known by our love.
