Pastor Kara’s Weekly Reflection

Do you ever feel like you're in a storm?

Sometimes, the struggles we face in life can make us feel as though we're standing alone on the edge of a stormy sea, with waves crashing all around and no clear direction in sight.

Even though we know God is with us, we're still faced with the tension where faith and doubt collide. We see this dynamic in Matthew 13:54-14:36. In His hometown, Jesus teaches, but many doubt Him, even though they know Him.

Later, Peter steps out of the boat, asked by Jesus to walk toward Him on the water. And as long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he walked confidently, but when he chose to focus on the storm around him, he began to sink.

This passage helps remind us that doubt is a natural part of our journey. Like the disciples, we may wonder if God is really with us when life gets difficult. Even in our doubt, Jesus is always near and He’s ready to reach out and lift us up, just like what He did with Peter.

He doesn’t abandon us when our faith wavers. All we have to do is keep our eyes on Him, as we trust that He will guide us through the storm.

So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, like you’re standing in the middle of a storm, we just want you to know that Jesus is right there with you, ready to reach out and steady you.

Keep trusting in Him, and keeping your eyes on Him as he walks you through your storm.
