  1. What was something that stood out to you from this past Sunday’s message? Share what you learned and how it will impact your life.

  2. Read Matthew 2:1-12. What surprises you about the wise men’s role in God’s plan for Jesus’ birth? What inspired them to journey such a great distance from their homeland to search for the Messiah of a different faith?

  3. What does their story tell you about their faith?

  4. The passage talks about the wise men’s journey to meet Jesus. How has your journey toward God been similar? Different?

  5. In what ways does God communicate with you personally?

  6. How have you heard God’s voice by meditation in the Word, in prayer, in congregational worship times, from personal encouragements, through reading, and in other ways?

  7. How confident are you in talking to God? What might make you doubt or feel less confident when you try to connect with Him?

  8. Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17. What is the Word of truth able to do that nothing else can? If what Paul wrote is true, why should we desperately want to hear from the Word?

  9. Why is listening to the Word necessary for your spiritual growth? When has slowing down and listening to the Scriptures led to spiritual vibrancy in your life?

  10. Read Psalm 119:105. How has Scripture specifically been a lamp to your feet and a light to your path?
