  1. What was something that stood out to you from this past Sunday’s message? Share what you learned and how it will impact your life.

  2. Read Ecclesiastes 7:1-12. In verse 1, in what ways is a good name better than fine perfume? Which of the two is easier to acquire and maintain? Why is maintaining a good name and reputation difficult?

  3. Read Ecclesiastes 7:1-12. In verse 5, in what ways is it better to listen to the rebuke of a wise person than to hear the song of fools?

  4. When is it appropriate to rebuke someone? Describe your most recent experience of being rebuked and what you learned from it.

  5. Read Ecclesiastes 7:6? What does it mean to take sin seriously and do what is necessary to put it to death?

  6. Read Ecclesiastes 7:10-12 and James 3:13-18. What is the difference between wisdom and knowledge? What is an example of each? How do we confuse these two? How do you determine what wisdom to follow?

  7. Read James 3:14-16 and Ephesians 2:1-4 and compare the state of our hearts in our sin to the way James described worldly wisdom. What parallels do you see? What does this teach you about the nature of worldly wisdom?

  8. Read James 3:17-18. What differentiates the traits of heavenly wisdom from earthly wisdom? In these verses, James lists eight traits of heavenly wisdom. Identify and define them together as a group.

  9. Read 1 Corinthians 1:18-25. Why is the cross of Christ the apex of wisdom? When people seek you out for wisdom, how could you point them back to the cross?

  10. Read Psalm 1:1-6. What can you do to acquire godly wisdom? Will you commit to reading the Word for a little bit each day this week?
