  1. What was something that stood out to you from this past Sunday’s message? Share what you learned and how it will impact your life.

  2. Read 1 Kings 19:1-18. Elijah has just defeated the prophets of Baal at Mt. Carmel. Elijah prayed for rain during the famine, and the skies opened. He outran a chariot on foot in a fantastic feat of strength. Despite all he’s seen God do when Jezebel threatens Elijah’s life, he runs away in fear. Have you ever been overwhelmed by fear? What is it about fear that gives us tunnel vision? How can fear sometimes lead us towards exhaustion?

  3. Read 1 Kings 19:3-5. Immediately following a great victory, Elijah was exhausted and burned-out, and became depressed. This passage illustrates four common contributors to depression: Elijah wore himself out, shut people out, focused on the negative and forgot the faithfulness of God. Of these four, which is your most common challenge in your life?

  4. What do you think of Elijah’s request that the Lord “take my life”? Have you ever told the Lord, “I have had enough”? Have you ever been in a position where you had spent all your energy only to find that you had to conquer another hard thing?

  5. In what areas of your life are you exhausted? What are some things you can do, starting today, to help relieve that exhaustion?

  6. Read 1 Kings 19:5-8. The most spiritual thing we can do is rest. While that sounds so easy, why is it so hard for us to rest? What are some things you can do to have more rest in your life?

  7. Read 1 Kings 19:11-13. Why wasn’t the Lord’s voice in the wind, earthquake and fire? What does this tell us about how God works? Do you feel like you have a good handle on when God is speaking versus when things are so loud that they’re pulling your attention?

  8. God spoke to Elijah with a gentle whisper. Describe a time when you felt God spoke to you with a gentle whisper. What did He say to you?

  9. Read 1 Kings 19:15-21. God gave Elijah a fresh vision and renewed service to the Lord. Where is God calling you to minister? What steps will you take to obey God's call in your life?
