  1. What was something that stood out to you from this past Sunday’s message? Share what you learned and how it will impact your life.

  2. Read Luke 4:1-13. Why did the Holy Spirit lead Jesus to the wilderness? What do you think God wanted to accomplish through this 40-day event?

  3. The story lists three specific temptations posed to Jesus: to tell stones to become bread, to throw himself off the Temple (as a test of God’s promises of protection), and to gain the kingdoms of the world by worshipping the devil. What makes these temptations tempting?

  4. Who from the Old Testament should we compare and contrast Jesus with as we consider the story of his temptation? Discuss the similarities and differences between Jesus and these people in the Old Testament?

  5. What physical needs or desires make us vulnerable to temptation? Where are you most susceptible to falling into temptation?

  6. Read 1 Corinthians 10:12-13. How does this passage teach us to deal with temptation.

  7. In 1 Corinthians 10:13, what comfort can you take in this promise?

  8. Read Hebrews 4:14-16. Focus on verse 15. So often people stick with us when things are going well, but this text teaches us that Jesus is near us in our weaknesses. Share a time that Jesus drew near in your weakness’.

  9. Read James 4:7-8. What do we need to submit to God? What makes it hard to submit to Him? In what area are you struggling to submit to God? Why is it you are struggling?

  10. How can you prepare for tempting situations at work? As people seeking to walk the way of Jesus, how does these passages encourage or challenge you?
